Cardinals are incredible birds who love to hang out at the edge of forests. Each morning and evening, four pairs visit my bird feeder, which was discovered by one male who ‘led the charge’ and showed his mate and friends where the good stuff is. In 2025, I watched all four pairs bring their fledglings to the feeders and show them how to eat from it; despite this, one young son insisted Dad feed him the way he always has! Amazingly, the father cardinal obliged throughout the entire summer, his patience and devotion to his grown son demonstrating why these scarlet birds are so beloved.
